Shane Cooper & Mabuta - 'Finish The Sun' Vinyl

Shane Cooper & Mabuta’s second album moves through African musical traditions with jazz as its meeting point. Finish The Sun draws on sounds from Mali, Nigeria, the Sahel and Morocco alongside those of the group’s native South Africa, connecting Afrobeat and maskandi with funk, hip hop and touches of 1970s psychedelia. Cooper composed, produced and mixed the record at his Kujua studio, with Bokani Dyer, Sisonke Xonti and Robin Fassie among the core players. From the title track to 'The Walk', its eight pieces reflect a band interested in conversation between styles, with the ensemble’s musicianship holding the journey together.
