About this release
Shannon’s 1983 single combines busy electronic percussion, sharp synthesizer lines and a cool vocal delivery, bringing pop songwriting into a tightly sequenced club track. Let The Music Play became an early landmark of freestyle, with its electro rhythm carrying the song as strongly as the vocal hook. The dub version on the reverse shifts attention towards the production, giving the percussion and electronic effects more space within the same distinctive groove.
