Shinichi Atobe - Ongaku 1

Ongaku 1 finds Shinichi Atobe drawing his dub techno approach closer to deep house. Released by Demdike Stare's DDS label, the two-track twelve pairs carefully placed drums with warm chords, bass weight and small melodic details that develop gradually across each side.

The title track builds around luminous dub chords and darker string textures. On the reverse, Dub 6 lets repeating synth figures unfold before the kick drum settles into the groove. Additional editing and mixing comes from Demdike Stare's Miles Whittaker, with mastering by Rashad Becker.
