Saturday Night Special captures The Lyman Woodard Organization’s jazz-funk and fusion sound, led by Woodard’s organ, electric piano and Mellotron. Originally released in 1975 on Detroit’s Strata label, the album became a sought-after part of the city’s independent jazz catalogue. The programme includes the two-part title piece, Joy Road, Creative Musicians and Cheeba. This BBE double-vinyl repress carries the revised BBE414ALPB catalogue number and uses different side divisions from the earlier BBE414ALP edition.
