Chris Bonato and Bridget Small continue Left Ear’s exploration of independent music from Australia and New Zealand with Antipodean Anomalies 2. Spanning 1980–1992, the double LP brings seventeen artists together across experimental electronics, ambient music and self-made instruments. Previously unreleased Adelaide recordings sit beside Buchanan Holbrook’s kalimba-and-conga piece 'Hunger' and Jane Stevenson’s tape-loop experiment 'Soloaloha'. Back To Back Zithers close the collection with 'Cicadas', setting Kacapi improvisation against a summer insect chorus. The focus stays on small creative communities and resourceful musicians who made distinctive work with the means available to them.
