About this release
Cunimondo Takiguchi curates City Music Tokyo multiple from the Nippon Columbia catalogue, bringing together sixteen recordings that connect Japanese pop with funk, soul, disco and AOR. The selection reaches from the 1970s through the mid-2000s, with artists including Carnation, JADOES, Keiko Kimura, Midori Hara and Hiroshi Sato. Familiar song forms meet detailed arrangements and varied rhythm sections, reflecting the breadth of the city pop tradition rather than a single period or production style. Gearbox Records presents the remastered compilation across two black 140g vinyl records, housed in a gatefold sleeve with an obi strip and booklet.
