About this release
Gilles Peterson draws on his radio playlists to chart a decade of listening to International Anthem, bringing together musicians from the Chicago label’s expansive creative community. The selection connects Makaya McCraven, Angel Bat Dawid, Jeff Parker and jaimie branch with the distinct approaches of Resavoir, SML and many others. It also includes a previously unreleased Brownswood Basement performance by Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti and Frank Rosaly, alongside spoken introductions from Peterson’s January 2020 Worldwide FM broadcast in Chicago. Across twenty-nine tracks, the compilation follows the label’s movement between composition, improvisation and collective music-making, with Peterson’s long-standing relationship to the catalogue shaping the sequence.
