Voice Notes follows Yazmin Lacey’s Black Moon, When The Sun Dips 90 Degrees and Morning Matters EPs, bringing her intimate soul and contemporary R&B songwriting into album form. Raised in East London and later based in Nottingham, Lacey developed her music through Gilles Peterson’s Future Bubblers programme after initially recording for the pleasure of making songs with friends. Here, personal experiences and the informality of recorded messages shape the writing, with Dave Okumu as executive producer. The 14-track album includes Bad Company, Fool’s Gold and Eye To Eye, presented on double vinyl through Own Your Own Records.
