About this release
Edan expands the golden-age hip-hop vocabulary of Primitive Plus on his second album, Beauty And The Beat. Dusty breaks, rock and pop samples, hazy loops and abrupt changes of pace are drawn into a continuous musical collage. Insight, Percee P, Mr. Lif and Dagha join the record, with 'Fumbling Over Words That Rhyme' sitting alongside the psychedelic turns of 'Making Planets' and 'Rock And Roll'. The thirteen-track programme closes with 'Smile' and 'Promised Land', completing a compact album that treats rap history and imaginative sample construction as parts of the same conversation.
