About this release
Forever, Ya Girl is keiyaA’s debut album, originally released in 2020 and reissued here by XL Recordings. Raised on Chicago’s South Side, the singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist brings jazz training, R&B phrasing and hip-hop production into a personal form of soul music. Her lyrics place Black women’s experience and perspective at the centre, moving between reflection, frustration and self-assertion. Across sixteen tracks, songs such as ‘Hvnli’, ‘Do Yourself a Favor’ and ‘Negus Poem 1 & 2’ sit alongside brief interludes and reprises. This LP repress comes in a printed cover with printed inner sleeves.
