About this release
The NM Band's She Wants documents Natural Mystic moving beyond its lovers-rock roots into an early UK street-soul sound. Originally released in 1985 on the band's Mixdown imprint, the single combines Ashley Sommers' vocal with machine drums and electronic instrumentation. An Akai drum machine, Yamaha DX7 and Roland sound module helped shape that meeting of reggae and soul. Isle Of Jura's official reissue pairs the song with its dub version, She Wants (More), preserving the original two-track format. This 140g twelve-inch comes in a black disco sleeve with a metallic sticker designed by Bradley Pinkerton.
