About this release
Selected Ambient Works 85–92 introduces Richard D. James' Aphex Twin project through thirteen electronic recordings. Released by Apollo in 1992, the album balances drum-machine rhythms and bass with melodic synthesis and spacious textures, moving from Xtal and the extended Tha to shorter pieces such as i. Green Calx and Heliosphan show different approaches within the same programme, while Ptolemy, Hedphelym and Delphium lead towards the closing Actium. This double-vinyl edition presents the complete original album across four sides. Its ambient-techno setting gives the individual tracks room while keeping rhythm central to the listening sequence.
