ex_libris - 004

Dave Huismans returns with 004, the fourth instalment of his ex_libris series. Known for his work as A Made Up Sound, Huismans puts percussion at the centre of these three midtempo electronic pieces. Sparse arrangements leave room for small rhythmic shifts to carry the music, with each track developing gradually rather than rushing towards a peak.

‘12 Kinetic Sculpture’, ‘11 Mirage’ and ‘35 All Over’ continue the series’ exploratory approach while giving this volume a more explicitly rhythm-led focus. The stripped-back construction makes the changes in dynamics count, keeping the music active within its unhurried pace. This hand-stamped 12-inch features design by Bernie van Vlijmen and mastering and cutting by Anne Taegert at Dubplates & Mastering.
