About this release
Gerson King Combo’s self-titled 1977 album brings Brazilian soul and funk together within the Black Rio movement. Backed by União Black, the singer moves between dance-oriented tracks and statements of racial pride, with ‘Mandamentos Black’ opening a ten-song programme. ‘Just for You’, ‘Andando nos Trilhos’ and ‘Swing do Rei’ share the first side, while ‘Hereditariedade’, ‘Foi um Sonho Só’ and ‘God Save the King’ form part of the reverse. This Vampisoul edition is remastered from the original tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, presenting the complete album.
