About this release
Haze’s version of Azymuth’s ‘Jazz Carnival’ links the Brazilian group’s jazz-funk sound with a band working around Exeter, Torquay and the south-west of England in 1981. Band member Tony Ridley brought the composition into their repertoire, and it appeared on a recording connected to a fundraising campaign for a local school. Panorama returns the performance to vinyl, pairing it with ‘Magic Fly’ on the reverse. The seven-inch presents two sides of the group’s instrumental sound, with remastered audio and a redesigned picture sleeve. It captures an unexpected connection between a regional British band and Brazilian jazz-funk.
