About this release
Maxwell Elemuo's voice leads this 1976 recording, backed by Friimen Musik Company. The band builds its sound from substantial drums, deep bass, wah-wah guitar and organ, giving the songs a rhythmic weight that connects soul with Afro-funk. Talking Time and the extended Ajiboye Special open the programme, followed by Thousand Kisses, Carry On, My Sweet Lord, Justina and My Lady. Afrodelic returns the album to vinyl with the seven-track sequence intact, presenting Elemuo's singing alongside the band's tightly woven instrumental backing.
