About this release
Kind Of Blue builds its five performances around melodic sketches, open harmony and the interaction of Miles Davis’s ensemble. Recorded in New York in 1959, it features John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley on saxophones, Paul Chambers on bass and Jimmy Cobb on drums, with Bill Evans at the piano and Wynton Kelly taking that role on “Freddie Freeloader”. “So What” establishes the spacious approach, while “Blue In Green”, “All Blues” and “Flamenco Sketches” reveal different shades within it. This DOL reissue presents the original five-track album on a single 180g vinyl LP.
