About this release
Aloha Got Soul surveys a vibrant era of music made in Hawai‘i from the 1970s to the mid-1980s, when jazz, rock, funk, disco and R&B flourished alongside Hawaiian folk traditions.
Compiled from overlooked local recordings, the collection captures the islands’ rich live-music culture and the soulful, independent artists whose work rarely reached the mainland.
