About this release
The Reflex revisits two recordings from Daniel Vangarde’s Who’s Who project, rebuilding the 1979 material from its original tapes. “Hypnodance” becomes a dub-influenced, mid-tempo piece, with the revision giving its melodic details room around the drums. On the reverse, “Palace Palace” moves at a brisker pace, combining elastic bass, lively percussion and cosmic arpeggios. The two treatments connect the original productions’ electronic disco character with The Reflex’s approach to arranging from multitrack recordings. The result offers contrasting levels of rhythmic drive while keeping the distinctive melodies and instrumental textures of Who’s Who in focus.
