About this release
Jack J's Blue Desert puts his voice at the centre of eleven songs shaped by dub-funk, psychedelia, folk and sophisti-pop. Self-produced at Mood Hut's Vancouver studio between 2022 and 2024, the album develops the approach of Opening The Door through interlocking guitar, synthesisers and bass. Regret and longing run through the lyrics, with the melodic arrangements carrying a more shadowed mood than some of his earlier instrumental work. Wrong Again opens the record, while two parts of Pink Shoes punctuate the sequence. Released on Mood Hut, the single LP includes At Last, My Other Mind and Falling Down A Well.
