About this release
Moondance brings Van Morrison’s songwriting into a compact blend of rock, rhythm and blues, soul and jazz. Originally released in 1970, the album was recorded at New York’s A & R Studios after Morrison had begun writing the songs in upstate New York. And It Stoned Me opens the record before the swinging title track, Crazy Love and Caravan, with Into The Mystic closing the first side. Come Running gives the second side an immediate lift, while Brand New Day, Everyone and Glad Tidings broaden its range. The arrangements keep the songs direct while leaving room for Morrison’s expressive phrasing.
