Clive Stevens - Mystery Man

Midnight Drive revisits Clive Stevens & Brainchild's Mystery Man, a 1984 recording that became a favourite in Daniele Baldelli's cosmic disco sets. Originally featured on the Semjase album, it brings electronic drum programming together with live percussion, synthesizers and vocals. The relaxed tempo and layered arrangement place it at the meeting point of disco, electro and the adventurous selections associated with Italy's cosmic scene.

The original 12" mix is paired with a remix by Velvet Season & The Hearts Of Gold, the partnership of Gerry Rooney and Joel Martin. Working from Stevens' original session parts, the duo stretch the track into their Ever Evolving Ever Transforming Mix, opening up its rhythmic detail with a spacious, dub-heavy arrangement. Two versions offer different routes into the same distinctive groove.
