About this release
Kayhan Kalhor’s kamancheh and Toumani Diabaté’s kora meet in an improvised dialogue drawing on Persian and Malian musical traditions. The duo first performed together at Germany’s Morgenland Festival in 2016, followed by a short European tour and a recording session in Paris. Minimal preparation left room for the players to find connections through repetition, phrasing and shared musical instinct. The resulting nine-part programme unfolds as a continuous journey, with bowed strings and the kora’s plucked patterns carrying the conversation. Real World presents the album across two vinyl records, with an etched fourth side, preserving the sequence from Wayfarers Of The Legends to the closing title piece.
