Retromigration’s debut album for WOLF Music connects jazz-informed beats, broken rhythms and sample-based house with footwork and jungle. The opening run moves from Kunta’s hazy groove through Formant’s quicker rhythmic language to the off-centre house of Be Someone. Mauricesax and Bezzix appear across several tracks, while Passion Deez joins Kush Love. Deeper selections such as Mada and Bouncer share space with the more energetic Mild Fever and Bad Knees, showing the range of the Amsterdam-based producer’s listening. Straight Foxin’ gathers fourteen tracks across two LPs, keeping its different styles connected through rhythm and melodic detail.
