About this release
Strata Records: The Sound Of Detroit Vol 2 continues DJ Amir's deep excavation of the legendary Motor City jazz imprint, pulling together spiritual jazz, deep funk, improvisation and rare Strata-linked gems.
The 3LP set moves from Lyman Woodard Organization and The Contemporary Jazz Quintet to Maulawi, Sphere and Kenny Cox, with tracks such as On Your Mind, Nguzo Saba (The Struggle), Naima and Samba De Romance showing the depth of the Detroit scene.
