About this release
MC D and Audio MC’s debut as 2XDEF captures the raw energy of early UK hip hop, with hard breakbeats, scratching and urgent rap performances. Part of the Powerpack crew under The Powerlords’ wing, the pair were introduced to Mendoza Records by producer DJ Fusion, beginning his continuing partnership with MC D. Mendoza label-mate C.S.P. supplied the remix and instrumental, alongside Fusion’s Hip Hop Mix. Fundamental Frequencies brings the three versions together, revisiting a record that originally reached radio and club DJs at the white-label stage.
