7FO - Ran Bouten LP

Osaka producer 7FO turns to a hardware-only setup on Ran Bouten, building an eight-track electronic album around digital and FM synthesizers. Written during a period of isolation in 2020, the music develops a more machine-focused approach while retaining the melodic and atmospheric qualities of his earlier recordings.

Released by Conatala, the LP moves from Ran through Hai Weed and Fiction to the closing Bouten. The absence of his guitar playing gives the electronic textures a different role, with rhythms and melodies shaped into compact home-recorded pieces. Makoto Oshiro handled the mastering, and Hiroaki Hidaka designed the sleeve.
