About this release
A.J. Sound brings together Arthur Smith, also known as Artwork, and Big Apple Records’ John Kennedy. First released in 1995, The Block E.P. combines minimal techno and acid across three tracks, with Basemental occupying the A-side and Single Cell and High Riser on the reverse. Basemental also appeared on Laurent Garnier’s Laboratoire Mix, placing the duo’s work within a wider techno listening context. Decoy Records returns the original three-track programme to vinyl in this remastered reissue, retaining the concise arrangement of one long A-side cut and two tracks on the flip.
