About this release
Concrète Waves documents the live collaboration between Actress and Suzanne Ciani, recorded at the Barbican in London and Sónar in Barcelona. Ciani’s Buchla synthesizer meets Actress’ abstract rhythms in improvised exchanges that move between delicate electronic textures and heavier pulses. The two performances bring together different generations and approaches to electronic music, with each player responding to the other’s sound. Released on Werkdiscs, the double album presents the London and Barcelona recordings as a sequence of connected sections. This gatefold edition captures the collaboration across two records, from the quieter passages to its more physical rhythmic moments.
