About this release
Akufen brings a relaxed, soulful approach to Breakin’ Free, with Dominique Fils-Aimé’s vocals carried by low-slung drums on the title track. You Naughty Scamp raises the momentum through deep-house rhythms and bright synthesizer melodies, while Rubber Ducky combines jazz-influenced phrases with chopped vocal samples and a loose, funky bassline. Sensitive People (With So Much To Give) closes with a more expansive, layered arrangement. Across the EP, the producer’s attention to small sampled details sits alongside broader melodic movement, connecting the intimacy of the opener with more propulsive house passages and a reflective final stretch.
