About this release
Slush revisits Alegria’s 2002 debut Phonogen, an album shaped by the meeting of trance and progressive house around the turn of the millennium. Driving basslines and rhythmic grooves give the music its forward pull, while its melodic character reflects the more emotional side of that period’s dancefloors. This edition was curated by Lora Mipsum and remastered by Justin Drake, bringing the original material back into circulation with refreshed sleeve artwork. The accompanying insert includes an interview with Alegria, adding the producer’s perspective to the reissue. Its sound sits between rolling club momentum and the expansive atmosphere of progressive trance.
