About this release
Alex Albrecht’s Hiriketiya grew from a week at MOND’s artist residency on Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Working with Dhyan Basho on sitar, Dinelka Liyanage on electronics, Uvindu Perera on double bass and Pasindu Herath on saxophone, he gathered performances and field recordings that shape the album’s pacing and melodic detail. Ocean rhythms, insects and wind become part of its electronic sketches, with Round Table incorporating a steel table as an improvised percussion instrument. Rather than presenting a chronological document, the album assembles these fragments into music shaped by place, listening and memory.
