About this release
Brian Jackson revisits two recordings from Alfonso Noel Lovo’s Terremoto Richter 6:25 Managua on this Mushroom Pillow seven-inch. Lovo recorded the original album in New Orleans in 1973 after the earthquake that struck Managua the previous December. Its mix of psychedelic rock, jazz, blues and mazurka provides the starting point for Jackson’s interventions. The A-side presents ‘Terremoto’ in a Retouch, while the reverse offers a Rework of ‘Magic Mushroom World’. The pairing brings Jackson’s musical approach into contact with Lovo’s early recordings, presenting two distinct treatments rather than the original album versions.
