About this release
Alfredo De La Fe’s 1979 debut puts violin at the centre of a record that moves between salsa, Latin jazz and disco-funk. Side A focuses on Latin dance rhythms, with “Toca Alfredo Toca” and “Charangueando” giving his solos room to lead. On the reverse, “Hot To Trot” brings strings and Brazilian percussion into a disco groove, while “My Favorite Things” transforms the standard through layered violin and a more psychedelic rhythmic passage. “Canto Del Corazon” closes with shifting arrangements that connect funk and Latin music. This Mr Bongo vinyl reissue presents the original seven-track album.
