About this release
American Steel’s Hustlin’ Time captures a meeting of funk, disco and electronic rhythm from New York’s early-eighties boogie scene. Originally issued by Silver Screen in 1983, the track builds around a strutting bassline, tight drums and soulful vocals. Isle Of Jura’s reissue brings together four versions: the short and long vocal takes, an instrumental and Aldo Marin’s dub under his S.U.R.E. Shot name. Each changes the balance between the singing and the rhythm section, giving the groove a different amount of space. The 140g pressing comes in a black disco sleeve with labels and a sticker designed by Bradley Pinkerton.
