About this release
Amy Duncan sets lyrics by David Paton to sparse arrangements of piano, guitar and double bass on Greetings From Gartnavel. Written partly during Paton’s time at Gartnavel Hospital, the words draw on his experience of schizophrenia, with Duncan’s music giving space to their shifts in mood and perspective. Graeme Miller adds electric guitar and synthesizer, introducing off-centre textures around the acoustic instruments and vocals. Mark Freegard recorded, mixed and co-produced the album with Duncan, while Paul McGeechan handled mastering. Following their earlier collaboration Wake, the record continues a songwriting partnership built around Paton’s writing and Duncan’s melodic interpretation.
