About this release
Apart gathers twelve sketches, demos and previously unreleased recordings made by Andre Gibson and the Universal Togetherness Band between 1980 and 1984. Recorded in Chicago basements and professional studios, the material follows the musicians as their collective work began to move towards individual careers. Stripped-down arrangements place Gibson’s songwriting in focus, with Fender Rhodes supporting intimate songs alongside more rhythmic disco pieces. All My Pals opens the programme, which also includes Valentine Lover, Stuck On A Thrill and Say I Will with Dawn Brooks. Numero Group presents the complete archive selection on this vinyl edition.
