About this release
Music For Terminals is Palace Records founder Andrei Nikolsky’s second album, drawing on soundtrack and library music through a mixture of modal jazz, unusual electronics and off-centre disco. John Cameron, one of Nikolsky’s key influences, contributes piano to “Swing Time”, linking the album directly with the musical tradition that informs it. Members of the Kanpai Quartet — Charlie Searle, Euan McGinty and Dan Kabakov — add bass, guitar and keyboards, with drums from Filippo Galli, Mike Bandoni and Felix Weldon. Nikolsky writes, produces, mixes and masters the recordings, bringing the contributors together across short pieces that shift between live playing and electronic textures.
