About this release
Andrés brings his Detroit blend of sampling, soul and electronic rhythm to the first GT Flip twelve-inch. The four tracks connect his house and hip-hop background with crisp electro drums, melodic keys and chopped vocal phrases. ‘O Neil’ sets a quick rhythmic pace, while ‘Acuna’ works skittering percussion around another vocal-led arrangement. On the reverse, ‘When Love Was King’ pairs cool electronic patterns with reflective chords, and ‘E=MC2’ adds a more acidic edge. Rather than settling into one rhythmic template, the EP keeps the producer’s sense of funk running through a series of tightly arranged edits.
