About this release
Aphex Twin’s ‘Didgeridoo’ expanded edition pairs the original four-track EP with four CR7e versions drawn from Richard D. James’s archive. First released by R&S in 1992, the programme includes ‘Flap Head’, ‘Phloam’ and ‘Isoprophlex’ alongside the title track’s intense rave rhythm. For the additional versions, James revisited the recordings through a modified Nakamichi CR7e cassette deck, using variable speeds to reshape the material. These include ‘Didgeridoo’ live in Cornwall and a slowed ‘Isoprophlex’. Beau Thomas at Ten Eight Seven remastered the original mixes. The eight-track vinyl programme is spread across two twelve-inch records, bringing the early productions and their later tape treatments together.
