Argento - Miraggi

David August introduces his Argento project with Miraggi, an ambient LP on Music From Memory shaped by time spent between Berlin and the Tuscan coast. Synthesizers, acoustic percussion and environmental recordings give the music a spacious, cinematic feel, with traces of Italian library records, jazz fusion and Balearic music running through the arrangements.

Drummer and percussionist Lorenzo Setti joins August throughout, contributing both performances and writing as the pieces develop through improvisation. The rhythms leave plenty of space for melody and atmosphere, drawing on the changing light and landscape of Italy’s Tyrrhenian coast. It’s a record for listeners drawn to the meeting point between organic instrumentation and electronic sound, with a strong sense of place holding it together.
