About this release
Art Longo’s Echowah Island brings together psychedelic pop, tropical rhythms and the spacious production of dub. Made in his Swedish home studio, the album pairs vintage drum machines with spring reverb, tape echo and wah-wah textures. Claudia Jonas’s vocals give its hazy melodies a distinctive presence.
Across eight tracks, the record moves from the title song and ‘Quantum Ceviche’ to ‘Hirondelle’, ‘Shark’ and ‘Radio Soda’. The late-1980s influence runs through the arrangements, while the relaxed rhythms and layered effects create a warm, gently surreal atmosphere. Released by Cracki Records on vinyl.
