About this release
Auntie Flo extends two songs by Doe Paoro, giving their instrumental and vocal parts room to develop across long-form arrangements. The collaboration began when Paoro asked Brian d’Souza to remix Teach Us Of Endings from Living Through Collapse. His version builds around Ziggy Funk’s playing, snare rolls and a repeating kalimba-like synthesizer figure, gradually opening into strings and vocals. Maya takes a moodier route, with bass, percussion and analogue synth washes carrying the arrangement towards its flute passages. Together the versions connect Paoro’s songwriting with d’Souza’s flowing, dub-informed approach to Balearic house.
