About this release
Azymuth’s 1975 debut establishes the electric jazz and Brazilian rhythmic approach the group called ‘samba doido’. José Roberto Bertrami’s keyboards and synthesizers sit alongside Alex Malheiros’ bass, Ivan Conti’s drums and Ariovaldo Contesini’s percussion. ‘Linha Do Horizonte’ opens with a gentler, melodic atmosphere before ‘Melô Dos Dois Bicudos’ turns towards electric samba-funk. Across ten tracks, the ensemble moves between synthesizer-led arrangements, jazz phrasing and dance rhythms, including ‘Brazil’, ‘Caça A Raposa’ and the closing ‘Periscópio’. Far Out Recordings presents the album in its single-LP gatefold edition, retaining the original ten-track programme.
