About this release
Bella Vista was a one-off project by Michel Esteban, co-founder of ZE Records. First released in 1982, Mister Wong occupies a space between French synth-pop and leftfield disco, with its bassline becoming the focus of the Disco Dub version. Isle Of Jura’s twelve-inch places the original mix and Disco Dub together on the first side. Jura Soundsystem’s extended treatment fills the reverse, adding live percussion and allowing the dub elements more room. The three-version selection presents both the original song and two different approaches to its instrumental arrangement, connecting Esteban’s project with the label’s later reissue work.
