Black Loops - Something Special EP

Second time around for Black Loops' Freerange Records debut, 2020's superb Something Special EP. This time round, Jimpster's label have decided to include previously digital-only bonus track 'The Melody', a wonderfully deep, melodious and sunrise-ready fusion of chunlky bass, hip-swinging beats, picturesque lead lines and deliciously dreamy chords. The rest of the EP remains 'as was', meaning another chance to savour jaunty and starry opener 'Fresh', the chiming, smooth and jazzy 'Something Special' (whose title derives from its short NYC Peech Boys sample) and the deep, jazz-flecked dancefloor melancholia of standout cut 'Blue Pill'.
