About this release
Dev Hynes reflects on grief, growing up in Essex and the place of music in memory on Blood Orange’s Essex Honey. Written, produced and recorded by Hynes, the album connects personal recollections with a wider circle of collaborators, including Caroline Polachek, Lorde, Mustafa, Daniel Caesar, Tirzah and Mabe Fratti. Look At You opens the fourteen-track sequence, which moves through The Field, Mind Loaded and Countryside before closing with I Can Go. Recurring cello motifs and analogue recording textures help shape its reflective sound. This RCA edition presents the album across two black 150g vinyl records, housed in a gatefold sleeve with an insert.
