About this release
Down With It! finds trumpeter Blue Mitchell leading a quintet with Junior Cook on tenor saxophone, Chick Corea on piano, Gene Taylor on bass and Al Foster on drums. Recorded in 1965, the set moves from the boogaloo rhythm of Hi-Heel Sneakers to the ballad Alone, Alone, And Alone and the driving March On Selma. The six-track album balances Mitchell's melodic trumpet playing with the group's responsive rhythm section. This stereo Tone Poet edition is produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analogue tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI and housed in a gatefold tip-on jacket.
