About this release
Careful is Boy Harsher’s second studio album, bringing Jae Matthews’ vocals and Augustus Muller’s synthesizer work into a dark, rhythm-driven setting. Their songs combine precise electronic beats with unsettled melodic textures, moving between the yearning of “LA” and the more urgent intensity of “Come Closer”. Written largely in Massachusetts using a compact setup of synthesizers and a laptop, the album develops the brooding dance sound of their earlier recordings. Mixing with Maurizio Baggio at La Distilleria gives the arrangements space for both the harder percussion and the more fragile details of Matthews’ voice. The album was first released on their Nude Club imprint in 2019.
