About this release
Brian Jackson revisits songs from his work with Gil Scott-Heron on Now More Than Ever, produced by Masters At Work’s Louie Vega and Kenny Dope. Omar, Black Thought, Rahsaan Patterson, Moodymann, Raheem DeVaughn and Lisa Fischer are among the collaborators, bringing different voices to a catalogue rooted in soul, jazz and social commentary. The Bottle, We Almost Lost Detroit, Winter In America and The Revolution Will Not Be Televised appear alongside interludes and the title track. Rather than reproducing the original recordings, the project places the songs in new arrangements shaped by Jackson, his guests and the producers’ shared approach to groove.
